Borderlands 2 Bungee Event, Launch Trailer & Regional Restriction Petition

Welcome to Pandora, kiddos!

2K Games is kicking off the launch of Borderlands 2 with the ulitimate bid to demonstrate just how psycho a person can be. This Sunday (23rd September) gamers are invited to a special event at Brick Lane in London where they can bungee jump for free to win a copy of the game. Attendance is free and all are invited to take the plunge from a specially designed Borderlands 2 bungee crane.
The event will take place at the Old Truman Brewery in London from 10am to 4pm on a first-come first-served basis. Ben Lawrence, UK PR Manager for 2K Games said "We want to provide an afternoon of extreme fun and discover just how psycho Borderlands 2 fans can get. A bungee jump is the perfect way to truly test your nerves and we're excited to bring the insane pleasure of the game into the real world!"
As Borderlands 2 gears up for its launch tomorrow in the US and internationally on Friday this week, developers Gearbox Software have also released an official Borderlands 2 launch trailer today. The trailer shows some of the devastation wrought on Pandora by the conflict between the corrupt Hyperion Corporation and the lucrative Vault hunters. We get a glimpse of the diverse character skills on display, especially the Siren's deadly psychic abilities, and the gun-slinging madness of the Gunzerker. We also get a tantalizing look into the possibility of recurring characters from the original Borderlands showing up to help the new generation of Vault hunters against the forces of the notorious Handsome Jack.

Although fans are immensely excited for the game's release, there has been some concern as to the regional restrictions that have been put in place - some of the restrictions imposed mean that players will not be able to play the game in a different language from the country of residence, and furthermore, multiplayer will be restricted by a region lock, which means that you will only be able to play with friends within your continent. On top of all this, people residing in CIS countries will be unable to download DLC which will be released for the game. A petition was launched yesterday encouraging 2K Games to lift the regional restrictions, which has already garnered over 2,500 signatures in support.
