New Borderlands 2 trailer released

The latest trailer for Gearbox's Borderlands 2 has been released, which gives more of a glimpse into the game's setting, character options and story...

The “Come And Get Me” trailer, which launched this morning for Gamescom 2012, shows the game's antagonist Handsome Jack critically running through the four new player options: the turret-wielding Commando, the tank-like Gunzerker, the mysterious Siren, and the stealthy Assassin.
In addition, the trailer also hints at the game's story – the planet Pandora has been taken over by the Hyperion Corporation and its army of drones forcibly repressing the local populace. Until a new wave of Vault Hunters show up to cause anarchy and general mayhem.
Some of the features on display for Borderlands 2 include dual-wielding, melee weapons, and an absolutely staggering array of guns that put even its predecessor to shame. And the game doesn't seem to skimp on the action either; whereas the first Borderlands saw you fighting through a few variations of creatures and bandits in the same dusty wasteland for most of the game, this time round the settings and enemies seem much more varied and intense – gunships, automated turrets, Hyperion shock troopers and some of Pandora's giant and deadly local fauna are all on offer. And of course, players can expect Handsome Jack himself to drop in a few “surprises” to mix things up.
Gearbox have also announced a new “Best Friends Forever” beginner-friendly skill tree for the upcoming Mechromancer class, due for release a few months after the game ships. Dubbed as “Girlfriend Mode” by lead designer John Hemingway, this will give amateur FPS players a sporting chance at the game with various perks, such as “Close Enough” which allows bullets to ricochet off walls towards the enemy. Some are concerned that this will act as an easily-exploited crutch for new players, but Hemingway has also stated that the Mechromancer will also feature a “Hardcore Mode” skill tree, giving the player ample opportunity to develop advanced skills. This will include being able to summon Deathtrap, the Mechromancer's lethal robot companion and outfitting him with a large variety of upgrades.
The new trailer can be viewed in the embedded player below, and more info can be found in our extensive Borderlands 2 preview.
