Five Youtube Experiences to Brighten Your Week
| LISTS - OTHER LISTS |
Youtube and Shadowlocked are here to help you get through Lent...

It was Pancake Day last Tuesday, and it’s Lent right now, but I haven’t given this up – and I hope you haven’t either. If you’re reading this I guess you haven’t; have a high-five on me!
Below the line is a critics re-imagining of Star Wars Episode I, a hilarious remix of January’s news, a cunning automobile stunt, two males with 100 problems (Jay-Z reference there) and another masterful short film.
Well, go on then, watch them!
5. What If Star Wars Episode I was Good?
At ten minutes long, this has to be the longest and best ramble I’ve ever sat through. Not only does it cover a subject I really love: Star Wars. But it’s funny, well made and the rambler actually makes some brilliant points.
The rambler sits in front of a green screen and tells the story of Star Wars Episode I as he thinks it should have been made, and as he details his deviations clips from the film play out behind him. That way you never lose track of where he’s going.
I think the film would have been a masterpiece had this man written it, but what do you think?
4. Re-mix of BBC News
Cassetteboy strikes again! And he doesn’t disappoint in this slightly NSFW clip.
We all know what this human does, but if you don’t I’ll explain: Cassetteboy records footage, in this case the 6pm BBC News, and stitches it back together in the wrong order; giving the wonderfully hilarious impression that people are saying silly things.
Watch it!
3. Superman?
This clip is short and sweet. At a mere 24 seconds long, I could be accused of short-changing you wonderful readers, but after watching I don’t think you will.
I don’t know how this effect is accomplished, but I have a fair idea; plus, if I mentioned it, I think I’d spoil the surprise. All it leaves me to say is that you’ll be laughing as much as the person holding the camera, and who knows, it might give you some ideas.
2. I Said…..
I haven’t watched the US sketch show Key & Peele before, but after being introduced to this clip, I think I might have to investigate further.
This clip features two brow-beaten husbands who confide in each other about their wife problems. I wouldn’t dream of ruining the incoming hilarity for you, so I shall not continue any further.
1. Address is Approximate
Click full-screen, set the resolution to 720p, let it buffer and read.
“A lonely desk toy longs for escape from the dark confines of the office, so he takes a cross country road trip to the Pacific Coast in the only way he can – using a toy car and Google Maps Street View”, official blurb.
I couldn’t describe it any better, and rarely will you find a better, more ingenious, short-film. It left me salivating.
