From Photoshop honesty to racial profiling, Youtube's got everything you need for a chuckle this weekend...

Wow, it’s the first edition of 2012, unbelievable! As ever, I hope you enjoy these clips as much as I have – so much fun can be had, so many giggles unearthed when trawling the bowels of the internet.

But without further ado, I would like to introduce this week’s edition: We have an advert, a sketch, a video-blog, an impressionist, and - as usual – a clip which makes you think…

5. Photoshop

We all know they do it, those pesky celebrities. We all know they don’t really look like they do, and we all know they use Photoshop to make themselves appealing (or appalling depending on your point of view).

So here is an advert for Photoshop which leans rather heavily – and hilariously – on the practice of ‘Photoshopping’, and satirises the advertising of beauty products generally, to great effect.

4. Change Your Shirt!

A white guy and his Asian friend are preparing to leave for the airport, but there is just one problem: One of them is wearing an ‘I’m da bomb’ T-shirt… and it isn’t the white guy.

This clip intentionally plays on the racial profiling of airport security, and the mass hysteria of the media to create a clever comedy short. Oh – before I forget – there’s a rather original twist at the end, enjoy!

3. Thoughts from a Little Dude

By his own admission, this young man doesn’t know very much. But evidently, what he does know is quite insightful.

Rather than being another run-of-the-mill video-blog, the ‘v-logger’ in question makes use of some smart editing skills to add pace, humour and depth to the ‘v-log’. What we are left with is a short, smart and entertaining Youtube clip which oozes charisma. I think I’ll visit his page again, hopefully you will too…

2. Impressions by Isaac

I love impressions. The ability to emulate someone - or something - else fascinates me, and Isaac certainly has that talent in abundance.

It’s a simple video, but that’s all you need. Isaac sits centre-screen in an unimposing chair and works his magic impersonating both the famous and the obscure. His renditions of Captain Jack Sparrow, Bill Cosby and Peter Griffin are near perfect!

1. Albatrosses

Chris Jordan discusses the Albatross project in this sobering video. I’m aware that this feature promises to ‘brighten your week’, but the number one slot has always been reserved for videos which I hope, at the very least, will make you think.

No clip to date deserves this treatment more than this one, which describes the Pacific Garbage Patch and reveals its horrendous impact on the lives of sea-birds – most specifically the Albatross.
