5 YouTube experiences to brighten your week #17
|LISTS - OTHER LISTS|
From hangover specials to grieving giraffes - it's all here this week...
This edition features another arty, short film sitting proudly at the number one spot. I bet you’ve been dying for another one. You have? See, I knew it!
Apart from the short-film we have the cooking guide to top all cooking guides, a topical prank, material from an under-appreciated comedy show and some more from a wonderfully appreciated comedy show...
As always, enjoy!
5. The only way to reheat Pizza.
I believe that this clip will not only brighten your week, it will brighten your hangovers forever-more!
The narrator instructs you how to reheat pizza in a fashion that recreates the pizza’s original texture and flavours. No more soggy micro-waved pizza, no more burnt oven-heated pizza!
All together now... nom-nom-nom!
4. Black Friday Shopping Prank
This short clip had me in stitches. The two protagonists of the clip are challenged to enter a supermarket on ‘Black Friday’ and ask for items on their shopping list. Simple? Well not really, because their shopping lists contain the most random and sometimes fictional objects you could imagine. Will they convince the shop employees to help them?
‘Black Friday’ is the day after Thanksgiving in the USA which traditionally begins the Christmas shopping period. It’s a day of sales and special offers which, this year, sparked embarrassingly violent behaviour in those hunting for offers.
3. Bruiser, the best British sketch show you haven’t seen
Bruiser is the short lived British comedy series that launched the careers of Robert Webb, David Mitchell and Martin Freeman, to name but a few. Unfortunately Bruiser only ran for one series, I couldn’t tell you why because I think it’s quite funny. It certainly isn’t any worse than That Mitchell and Webb Look, the hugely successful BBC comedy series of recent years.
This particular clip shows the sketches about ‘Goths’, starring Matthew Holness (Garth Marenghi's Darkplace) and Robert Webb. The ‘anti-Goth’ ambitions of Holness’ character are continually and hilariously put down by Webb, the font of all things ‘Goth’.
2. The Five Stages of Grief
Whilst searching for content for this edition I remember this clip from a few years ago. More than that, I remember how I couldn’t stop laughing. That’s when it hit me, why not put it in the list!
So here it is, my favourite skit from Robot Chicken, the Giraffe experiencing the five stages of grief before his final breath.
1. Can We Kiss?
‘Can We Kiss?’ is a wonderfully acted and awfully heartfelt short-movie about love. The twist at the end, which I feel is always a key ingredient, is perfect. I daren’t say anymore about this French masterpiece, please watch it.
