The chief is finally getting the credit he deserves...

By default, we try to steer away from promoting competitors. It may seem petty, but then again what does one or two more hits mean to the big boys - the likes of Empire, Total Film and, in the gaming community, IGN.

Yet, such is my respect of their event in this case, I am more than happy to sing its praises. In a bold and - let's face it - alpha dominating move, IGN has only gone and organised the first official 'Halo Fest', due to run during PAX 2011.

Anyhow, rather than me boring you with the details, why not enjoy their self-made 'Halo Fest' video:

To quote directly " This is our place to show of Halo: Anniversary; our place to introduce the team that have, before now, been working in anonymity on the title for the past couple of years" - if that doesn't get you excited, you're not a true Halo fan. Combined with a powerful score, this promotional video for the event perfectly encapsulates why we came to love Halo.

An emotional journey; a cracking soundtrack; a passionate following - it's what Halo thrived on. Furthermore, it's times like these that I lament the fact I live in the UK; Frasier and a Halo fan fest? In the same city? Well played Seattle.

While the event is sold out, IGN will be providing a live feed for anyone interested. However, if you are lucky enough to be attending, make sure you check out IGN's Halo tournament schedule. Oh, and if you win, don't forget your friend Shadowlocked...
