Far Cry titles we didn't know existed...because technically, they didn't

Linkedin isn't a Far Cry from gaming, after all...

We've all done it at some stage of our lives; those who say they haven't are terrible liars. Who knows what it is that possesses us - maybe the improved self-worth that associates itself with the lie, or the knowledge and/or belief that, for someone looking to gather a brief history of our working background, this little 'improvement' as it were will speak volumes for us on the whole. I am, of course, talking about 'window dressing' of a curriculum vitae, or CV for short.
Now, to be fair, Philippe Baude - a lead game designer at Ubisoft - hasn't quite lied, but he has (or so I feel) added an element to his CV which I'd suggest is unnecessary; but nevertheless interesting for us, the videogame public. According to Mr. Baude, between the years of 2006-2007, he was the lead designer on Far Cry 2...for Wii and PSP!
But hang on, I hear you say, Far Cry 2 was exclusive to the big boys (PS3, Xbox 360 and PC); there was no Wii or PSP adaptation, was there? Well technically no, but between those years Mr. Baude assures us that he spent much time around the construction of core rules and game mechanics for the title, only for it to be cancelled around January of 2007.
With this news, one can't help but wonder what may have been. Far Cry 2 for the 360, PS3 and PC was incredible - the action was sleek, the graphics were remarkable and the story was captivating. However, for any of you unfortunate enough to have experienced Fry Cry: Vengeance - the Far Cry spin off that did make its way to the Wii - you will understand just how big of a loss this really was. As if the Wii was not plagued enough by inferior FPS' and lacklustre shoot-em-ups, even Far Cry, a much heralded franchise, failed to make a successful transition to the console.
While the loss is hard to accept, one must console (see what I did there) ourselves in the fact that Ubisoft are currently developing a new Far Cry for a 2012 release, appropriately named Far Cry 3. Unfortunately for Wii fans, the title is not due for a Wii release, so owners will either have to move across to one of Nintendo's competitors, or wait to see what the future may bring...
