Brink DLC due August 3rd...and it's free!

Brink to offer a free DLC in an attempt to improve on its initial disappointment...
Brink has, to date, been one of the biggest let-downs of console gaming in recent years. While not Duke Nukem Forever bad, the title promised so, so much, but delivered so, so little. We were promised gripping gameplay, intelligent A.I and, most importantly, a revolutionary movement system - S.M.A.R.T - that was going to change the face of first person shooters as we know them.
Unfortunately, both S.M.A.R.T and Brink were terrible disappointments. Sure, the new system presented an interesting take on the heavily saturated FPS market, but it seemed that Splash Damange - the games developer - had spent too much time working on it, therefore forgetting the other elements of the game. Just as an example, Brink featured one of the worst A.I of all time - characters seemed unable to perform even the simplest of tasks, or run to a pre-marked point, so gamers were as well to play the game alone...not great for a game that encouraged team play.
However, in what was either a great marketing rebuttal or a genuine - but somewhat confusing - decision, Splash Damage were quick to inform gamers that a patch was to be released alongside - the games release - which would clear up both graphic and A.I issues. Three days later, another became available to, and I quote, "...fix the connectivity problems by limiting the number of human players allowed in a game" - great. Yet, despite their best efforts, Brink was still a lacking release, and a major disappointment.
So, in an effort to win back support and show gratitude to their pre-existing cohort of Brink users, Bethesda - the games publisher - has announced that it's first DLC, Agents of Change, will be free to download upon its arrival. That's right, as of August 3rd, Xbox Live, PSN and Steam users will be able to download the add-on free of charge; a commendable offer, especially when one considers the money made of DLC's these days (here's looking at your extortionate self, CoD).
Tagged as "Secrets, lies, and double agents", Agents of Change promises to offer a totally new experience, whilst addressing a number of outstanding issues from Brink. As such, the DLC includes two new levels and maps - the underwater Labs facility and Founders’ Tower - will raise the level cap from 20 to 24, and will allow further customisation of your character, with a host of new weapons and outfits being made available.
However, be quick - the DLC will be free for two weeks, after which time Bethesda look likely to charge. Still, two weeks of free DLC? It's certainly a breath of fresh air...
