Star Wars: The Old Republic finally available for pre-order

Use the Force - well, the internet - to pre-order Star Wars: Old Republic now...
Within the last few hours, the likes of Gamestop and Amazon have publicly made Star Wars: Old Republic available for pre-order, a segment of news that is sure to please the Star Wars fans amongst us. However, we are still in the dark as to when the game is actually released; the most we know is that it's due anytime from July onwards.
Like many before it though, Old Republic is intent on releasing a special edition, available exclusively through selected retailers. Now, for those of you willing to spend $149.99, you can look forward to a statue of Darth Malgus, an exclusive soundtrack, a character-written journal, a metal disc case, printed map and two more in-game items (which are being kept a secret). For any passionate - and one would have to assume well off - gamer, this is a must have for Star Wars memorabilia, but for me, considering the additional content, the price still feels a little over-exaggerated.
Yet, in their attempt to please everyone, EA have stated that the ordinary release will include 30 days of play, early access and an exclusive "colour stone" item, which we are told allows the gamer to change their weapon effects - whatever that means - and the colour of their lightsaber. Furthermore, for those of you who prefer to digitally acquire your games, EA have announced that a special digital edition of Old Republic will be available exclusively from Origin - the companies recently launched digital distribution service - priced at $79.99. While fundamentally the same as its $59.99, store-worthy brethren, this digital option will include five additional in-game items, which EA obviously feels justifies an extra $20 charge.
Regardless of which one you choose, there is no room for failure with this latest release. If - like myself - you were left whole-heartedly disappointed following the 2003 release ofyou will understand the pressure resting on Old Republic's shoulder. As such, I just hope that the game can live up to its incredible cinematic trailer (see above).
