Doctor Who spin-off movie in the works

Would be the first Time Lord on the big screen since 1966...

The Minister Of Chance - heading for the big screen?

A little bird has whispered in my ear that the very excellent Doctor Who spin-off The Minister Of Chance is very soon be a movie. There's not much more I can say about it than that, except that I've also heard that there's a little preliminary shooting scheduled on the project for next month.

The initial episode of MoC, released in March as the first audio drama available via iTunes, features the Time Lord originally played in the 2001 Sylvester McCoy Who outing Death Comes To Time by Stephen Fry, with Julian Wadham in the title role alongside fellow ex-Doctor Paul McGann and SF genre favourites Jenny Agutter and Paul Darrow - and, of course, the inimitable Sylvester McCoy.

I've done what I can to persuade you guys how great Minister Of Chance is - a cross between the universes of Doctor Who and Douglas Adams (himself once the script-editor on Who), between the kid-friendly climes of our favourite inter-dimensional traveller and the more adult-toned environment of Torchwood. In my review, I also noted that Minister has "a fair bit of potential to go 'visual' in some way in a later version", and if this rumourlet is true, it'll be the greenest production since the LotR trilogy, set as it is on a lush forest-strewn planet that's caught somewhere between Chaucer and The Jetsons.

Speaking of LotR, Minister has a very solid connection with Peter Jackson's current production of The Hobbit, as both feature Sylvester McCoy.
