X-Men: First Class Clip: Here!
|NEWS - MOVIE NEWS|
I didn't know they even *had* lycra/spandex in 1963...
With just three weeks left before the June 3rd premiere of X-Men: First Class, the media madness begins! (The incredible buzz around another superhero film couldn't be adding to the frenzy, could it, Thor?) Today, 20th Century Fox released not only two new TV spots, but a preview clip as well! The TV spots are pretty similar ... and pretty awesome. Although the preview clip is way more interesting than the TV spots. TV spots are just commercials. But the preview clip actually gives us a taste of the story, a good one; plus, we get to see Professor X being a bit of a badass. What's not to like? As the title of the film suggests, X-Men: First Class takes place at the inception of Professor Xavier's school for mutants. In previous X-Men films, the world of mutants and non-mutants was already established; in this film, we get to see the introduction of mutants to the mainstream timeline.
That explains the clip below. It precedes the Bryan Singer-era films, showing the introduction of mutant powers to the Kennedy-era government. It's pretty spoiler-free, but still a decent preview. How's that for a magic trick?
And if that wasn't enough pure awesomeness for tonight, check out the TV spots below:
The film centers on the relationship between Professor X and Magneto - how two close friends became mortal enemies; and the First Class of mutants - both those at Professor Xavier's school and Magneto's Brotherhood. X-Men: First Class has an all star cast including James McAvoy (Wanted, Atonement, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe), Michael Fassbender (300, the upcoming Prometheus), Jennifer Lawrence (the upcoming The Hunger Games), and January Jones (Mad Men). It is set to open in theaters on June 3, 2011.
