Amy Heckerling returns to teenage angst in the age of Twilight...

Just released a few hours back on the Vamps Facebook page are some new hi-res pics from Amy Heckerling's pending Vamps, a tale of urban vampires which is just currently coming to the end of post-production for  release later this year. The movie stars Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter, with support from Sigourney Weaver, Malcolm McDowell and Marilu Henner, amongst others. The synopsis reads:

Stacy and Goody have been living the good night-life as two young and beautiful vampires until love gets in the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality and maybe much more...

Amy Heckerling, who also wrote the screenplay for Vamps, began a prestigious career in the 1980s with the likes of Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985), and the two Look Who's Talking movies in 1989 and 1990, before going on to summon up decadent teenage mall life in 1995's brilliant Clueless (the film that planted the vague notion in my mind that maybe I wouldn't hate Jane Austen as much now as when they made me study her in school), also featuring Alicia Silverstone and Vamps actor Wallace Shawn.
