More details on the beginning of the end...

With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 coming out on DVD on April 15, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hitting theaters this summer, on July 15, fans are starting to get very anxious for more details on the grand finale of the series. Some have been released, including these images, but not much about Part 2 is going live...yet. At least they are giving us something, though! Today marked the release of two new featurettes giving insight into two great scenes from The Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
The first describes the flashback to the story of the Three Brothers, who originally received the Deathly Hallows from Death himself. This was done in beautiful, sepia-toned stop-motion animation. One of the producers of the film, David Heyman, goes through the selection of Ben Hibon to create that portion of the film. Hibon was the animation director for the film Tokyo Zombie, and worked on character design and animation for the video game Killer 7 back in 2005. While both of those projects featured a very different style of animation, the submission for The Deathly Hallows was just what the producers were looking for. Check it out below:
The second features Nick Moran, who played Scabior in the film. He discusses the chase sequence, when the Snatchers were after the intrepid Potter, and the difficulty of filming in "a ten-pound wig, and a ten-pound jacket, and a pair of basically slippers on my feet, sprinting through the woods." At least he had a good motivation for his choice in footwear - he was inspired by Gary Oldman, who wore the same type of boots when he portrayed Sirius Black.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will be released on DVD April 15, 2011. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will be released in theaters on July 15, 2011.
