Deathly Hallows part 2 featurette online

The final chapter is ready...let the games begin!

A featurette video, with a sneak peak at the new trailer, is available for the final installment of the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will hit theaters this summer, 15 July 2011. It chronicles the final chapter in Harry's struggle against Lord Voldemort and the evil wizards who have taken over the wizarding world. As Emma Watson (Hermione) states in the featurette, it ties up all of the loose ends of the entire saga. The featurette also offers snippets of the Gringott's break-in, some great shots of Malfoy and Snape; and beautifully portrayed moments between Harry and Ginny, and Harry and Voldemort.
The final book in the Harry Potter series was broken into two parts, to make two separate feature-length films. If you are feeling kind you could believe that they did so to do justice to the action-packed finale; and if you are feeling cynical you'll probably believe that it was done as a massive marketing ploy to stretch out the money-making opportunities of one of the highest-grossing series of films of all time. Many fans are firmly in the latter camp and just don't care, turning out to see Part 1 in record-breaking numbers last year. Besides, Part Two looks fantastic! And it will be nice for the many, many fans of the series to have the final film done properly, adhering as closely to the source material as possible.
See for yourself:
The ABC Family channel is airing the first six films in the series this weekend, beginning on Thursday and continuing through Sunday. ABC Family also announced that they would be airing new footage from the final film during the weekend (of course, without details as to when they will be shown or what they will entail). If one were a cynic, one might suspect that this was a marketing ploy to raise viewership for the weekend as a whole. Again, the cynical explanation is probably the correct one and again, I expect that the fans just don't care. Let's hope the footage airing this weekend includes more of the battle at Hogwarts, and maybe some scenes from the Malfoys' mansion!
