Rosamund Pike in Wrath of the Titans?

Bond Girl fielding offers, and for movies too...

Rosamund Pike, most recently rumored to be considering a part in the new Superman movie, may now be appearing in Wrath of the Titans. Deadline reports that Warner Brothers is near closing a deal with Ms. Pike to play Andromeda in the sequel to Clash of the Titans.
She first gained widespread public attention as a Bond Girl in Die Another Day. Since then she's mostly been in indie movies, with the occasional foray into big-budget features, including Pride and Prejudice (hooray!) and Surrogates (slightly less hooray! But she was still quite good.) If she accepts the role in Wrath of the Titans she will join another Bond Girl, as Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace) will reprise her role as Io.
The movie, set to be directed by Johnathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles), picks up where Clash left off; but hopefully since it's not a remake of a classic of early eighties cheese, fans will be a bit more forgiving. Most of the key roles in Wrath of the Titans will be reprised by the same actors as in Clash. Liam Neeson will be chewing up the scenery as Zeus, Sam Worthington will play Perseus again. The role that Rosamund Pike is believed to be considering, that of Andromeda (wife of Perseus, lunch of Kraken) was played by the lovely Judi Bowker in the 1981 original, and by Alexa Davalos in the 2010 remake. IMDb trivia reports that other actresses considered for Andromeda included Hayley Atwell (Captain America), Georgina Haig (Road Kill), Janet Montgomery (Black Swan), Dominique McElligot (Moon) and Clemence Posey.
Deadline appears to believe that being in one major film (Wrath) would prohibit her from doing both. And while scheduling conflicts do exist, it's not unheard-of to be in more than one major film in a single year. (Rosamund Pike has four coming out in 2011 alone.) Should she accept both, she may have an extraordinarily busy couple of years. I'm thinking Nicole Kidman - 2001 level of busy. Remember when you couldn't go to a theatrical release without seeing the lovely Ms. Kidman? I think Rosamund Pike could easily carry that torch. Besides, Rosamund Pike's involvement in the casting process for Superman: Man of Steel led to widespread speculation that Ursa would be included in the new movie. And if Ursa is in the movie, then General Zod will probably return. And if General Zod returns, we can forget Superman Returns. And everyone wins.
