Stephen King talks The Stand remake
| NEWS - MOVIE NEWS |
The King himself weighs in...

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King shared that he did not know about the feature film remake of his classic The Stand until he read about it on the internet. Maybe here? He also displayed admirable loyalty to the TV miniseries version - at least to Gary Sinise, as he expressed disbelief that anyone could ever play the role of Stu better. However, he does seem to have some unresolved issue with Molly Ringwald, as he said that she wouldn't play Fran again, and also that she wouldn't play the Trashcan Man either (or maybe that was a compliment?), or direct the film. Molly RIngwald is probably too busy over on ABC Family anyway.
Stephen King also talked some dream casting: Jake Gyllenhaal as Stu, and Billy Bob Thornton as Trashcan Man. He also believes that it would take several films to tell the story.
There is no word yet on whether Stephen King knows of the script due to Paramount for Pet Sematary, or the rumored reboot of It. Don't worry that Stephen King is getting rich off of all these remakes, though. He hopes to make enough off of The Stand to buy a chicken dinner at Popeye's. Would that be the Popeye's in Boulder, or the Popeye's in Las Vegas that he's dreaming about?
