'The Event' foregoes flashbacks for clarity
| NEWS - TV NEWS |
A logical response to a legitimate complaint? I'm not quite sure how to react to that...

The Event, last fall's sci-fi series currently on hiatus, had some strong plot lines and interesting conspiracy theories. It also had huge plot holes, ridiculous characterizations, and a superbly annoying flash-back flash-forward method of storytelling that drove viewers up a tree. Happily, Blair Underwood (who plays President Martinez) stated today, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, that the show is finished using the flashback device. As of their return for the second half of season one, the story will be told straight through without any 'confusing' flashbacks.
While it is great that the writers of the show actually listened to fan complaints and reacted in an appropriate way, why must they refer to the flashback device as confusing? It wasn't confusing; it was annoying. It was a symptom of underestimating the intelligence of the audience to the point of insult. So yay! Let's see what the show is like revamped. There are also supposed to be major changes in the Sean Walker / resident hero character, according to the show's official website.
