PSP gamers look forward to a 'blast from the past' courtesy of SNK's Neo Geo...

Are you bored of the superior graphic experience and rich, fulfilling storylines common amongst the latest videogame releases? Do you crave simplicity, preferring a good hour of barrel-dodging, tortoise-squashing fun to the over-complicated, politically challenging gameplay that has become second-nature in 21st century gaming? Well fear not, Sony is here to help thanks to their launch of retro-friendly games for their handheld console, the PSP (PlayStation Portable).
As of today, PSP owners can enjoy eight of the biggest titles from the Neo Geo franchise - a console whose history lies primarily at an arcade level - thanks to Sony's PlayStation Network. For $6.99, PSP users can download and enjoy any one of the following eight re-releases:
As a recommendation, I would have to say stick to either The King of Fighters '94 or Samurai Showdown, as they are the only two games I really remember being half-decent. However, if for some strange reason you fancy a good laugh - possibly because you grew frustrated of dying randomly on Black Ops, or watching goal after goal fly past you on Fifa 11 - then Super Sidekicks really has to come with a big thumbs up. The game is hilarious to play and is thoroughly entertaining for all the wrong reasons. While I cannot promise you gripping gameplay or even logical decisions, I can promise you crying footballers and amusing fouls and, after all, isn't that what we really want to see in football (or soccer, to our American readers) these days?
