David O. Russell may shoot 2 Guns adaptation

Surely better than Couples Retreat 2...?
David O. Russell doesn't make a ton of movies: only five in the past 15 years; he is all about quality over quantity. (If you missed Flirting with Disaster, see it, now.) But today, fresh off the announcement that he is up for a Directors Guild Award for 2010's incredible The Fighter comes the news that David O. is in talks to rewrite and direct the film version of the 2 Guns comic book.
Universal originally bought the rights to the Boom! Studios comic back in August 2008, and an initial adaptation was written by Blake Masters, creator of the highly-regarded TV series Brotherhood. In fact, Masters was originally tapped to write and direct 2 Guns back in 2009.
2 Guns is a crime adventure in which an undercover DEA agent and a Navy Intelligence officer are conned by the Mob into stealing money from the CIA. They have to run form the Mob and from the authorities in their attempt to clear their names. Vince Vaughn is currently attached as one of the main characters; no news on who will put the buddy into this buddy-cop thriller.
