Activision look to cash in (again) on zombie additions

NEWS - VIDEOGAME NEWS

There's life - and cold hard cash - in zombies yet...

Soldier from 'Call of Duty: Black Ops'

Is it just me or is the gaming industry not even trying anymore in regards to their DLC’s (Downloadable Content)? In the latest press release from Activision, it appears that Call of Duty: Black Ops is next in line to jump on the ‘zombie expansion bandwagon’, leaving myself - and I presume thousands of other gamers - wondering when we can expect to see some originality in our add-ons? Call of Duty: World at War; Red Dead Dedemption; Rock Band (Rob Zombie add on... sorry!) - the list really does go on of zombie-infested titles.

Now, maybe it really is just me - I have always had a problem with the idea of paying extra for something that I already rightfully own - but what incentive is there really? I work hard for what little money I earn, and expect any product I purchase to be a worthy exchange for this hard-earned money, which seems fair. However, with this latest announcement, something appears to have just snapped in me; something I presume has been building up since refusing to pay for Halo 3 multiplayer maps almost three years ago.

Either way, Activision has confirmed that the new zombie map in the $15 Call of Duty: Black Ops "First Strike" expansion is to be called "Ascension", and that the pack will be available on the 1st February for Xbox owners. No date has been confirmed for other consoles, so I suggest that those of you without an Xbox 360 take your $15 and invest it elsewhere - just promise not to give it to Activision until they get a little more inventive.
