Back to the Future is back. Again.

Great Scott! PC gamers returning to Hill Valley...

Telltale Games' versions of Marty McFly & Doc Brown

While I always try to liven up the oft-dull game-related news that sometimes comes down the pike, I really don’t think it’s necessary in this instance. Who among us never sat wide-eyed in wonder watching Marty McFly’s latest adventure, tried to work out what Doc Brown’s real angle was, or secretly swore to ourselves that (even if it took us all our lives and cost us the price of a small Caribbean Island) we would someday own a DeLorean DMC-12 just like the one featured in the movie?

Just in case some of you have not worked it out yet (where have you been?), I am talking about Back to the Future, a trilogy that is still as beloved today as it was 25 years ago. While the movies may have ceased long ago and Michael J Fox may have seen better times, the brand name has remained ever-present, with companies queuing up at the outset to milk it for all its worth. However, it was Telltale Games that got there first and, ever since, gamers and fans worldwide have been awaiting any future developments or a specific release date.

That being said, it is my great pleasure to inform the PC gamers amongst you that you can look forward to reuniting with Marty, Doc and all the other familiar faces from Hill Valley very soon. Telltale Games will be releasing its newest Back to the Future incarnation (aptly titled Back to the Future) on the 22nd December 2010. Unfortunately, PS3 and iPad owners will not be so lucky, with Telltale informing IGN that the game will not be ready for these platforms until sometime in 2011.

While this news is sure to leave both PS3 and iPad owners slightly demoralised, do try to remember it could be worse. You could be an Xbox 360 owner, a huge section of the gaming industry that Telltale Games appears to have forgotten about.
