Batman: Arkham City teaser wows the crowd

NEWS - VIDEOGAME NEWS

A game trailer to drop the jaw of any videogaming fan, never mind the Batman crowd...

Batman: Arkham City

Batman: Arkham Asylum was unlike any game before it; for once, a videogame based on a movie had lived up to its cinematic predecessor. Despite the fact that its enjoyment was limited to just a single-player campaign, the game was crisp, responsive and a real joy to play. A hit with both consumers and critics, including a rating of 92/100 on Metacritic, the game was frequently labelled as the “greatest comic book game of all time” and had sold almost two million copies by 13th September, just three weeks after its release.

So, when a trailer for a sequel appeared at this year’s E3, you can imagine the excitement and jubilation by gamers worldwide. Unfortunately, like many of the industry’s most anticipated releases, Batman: Arkham City has experienced a number of delays and problems, and speculation as to when the game will finally be released has remained just that - speculation.

However, to keep the masses happy and ensure anticipations remain at a feverish level, Warner Bros have taken it upon themselves to tease us senseless, from in-game stills to short gameplay clips being leaked continually.

Conversely, while all of these have looked amazing, it is the latest 34-second teaser that has sent forums crazy, maxed-out gamer tweets and sent current Batman fans into a mild delirium of happiness.

If the teaser is a taste of what is to come, we could be in for one hell of a treat; the graphics are phenomenal, the gameplay looks flawless and Batman appears to have kept the dark side to his personality that has ultimately made his rejuvenation so successful in recent years.

After watching the trailer myself, I have felt a number of different emotions that I never thought possible to feel through a game. Now begins the long but oh-so-worthwhile wait for its release. If you’re reading this, Warner Bros, please hurry up...
