Solomon Kane director to helm Silent Hill 2 in 3D

Expect some nasty things to lurch out of the fog...

Solomon Kane director Michael J. Bassett is to take on the sequel to the 2006 videogame adaptation Silent Hill. Bassett will be both writing and directing the project, which - inevitably - will be filmed in 3D (and I'm wondering if 3D fog is going to be great or extremely rubbish..?).
The sequel, entitled Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, will centre on Silent Hill 3's (i.e. the videogame) Heather Mason, another woman inextricably drawn to the deserted mining town that holds a ton of spectral secrets. Approaching her 18th birthday, Heather becomes prey to a series of terrifying nightmares after the disappearance of her dad, and has some shocking revelations to come about who she really is.
Casting news will follow, and the original franchise didn't go totally 'unknown', with Pitch Black's Radha Mitchell leading, so it will be interesting to see who they come up with. Don't be expecting huge names - it's a sequel based on a videogame, after all.
