Saw 3D - torture franchise closes to big opening

That's...enough!

Jigsaw has closed one of the most lucrative horror movie franchises since the golden slasher days of the 1980s with a killer opening weekend in the US. Last week's hot opener Paranormal Activity 2 was effortlessly knocked off the No.1 spot by Saw 3D, the seventh and final episode in the torture-porn movie series. By this stage of a franchise's cycle, one can usually expect diminishing returns, but unabated 3D-mania is most likely to be behind this final outing beating its predecessor Saw VI (2009) by $10m, with an opening weekend take totalling an estimated $24.3m.
