Goldeneye: Tanks for the memories

NEWS - VIDEOGAME NEWS

A seminal moment in videogaming gets a souped-up revisit...

007 gives em hell in a tank in 'Goldeneye'

I am going to make a promise to the shadowlocked.com faithful of you; when I hear off any developments as to EA’s latest Goldeneye remake, I will get it to you post-haste.

Now, for those of you who hold the N64 Goldeneye in as much affection as I do, you will understandably be concerned as to how the game develops, thoroughly analysing and criticising it until we can get our hands on it. However, with the latest video leak on the www being a gameplay trailer of Bond driving a tank, my concerns have been eased.

One of the most memorable parts of the original Goldeneye, if not of any first-person shooter, was the Tank level. Fairly self explanatory really; Bond blows some stuff up, needs a quick getaway and therefore commandeers a tank. While the level itself may not have been the most creative thing to have ever been featured in an fps, it was the inclusion of the tank that was highly influential. After that, no FPS was ever the same, with each title offering more and more vehicle opportunities.

But I digress. I encourage you to watch the original, followed by the latest video from the upcoming Wii release. Without jumping to any significant conclusions, I think it looks better!
