Alien (1979): Possibly the scariest trailer ever made
| FEATURES - MOVIES |
They don't even make the trailers like this anymore...

I do wonder not so much whether or not Ridley Scott can match the quality of his 1979 work in the new Alien prequel - the genre elements are now well-known to us, and Scott is a different person in many ways - but whether Fox can possibly come up with a trailer for it as good as what was produced for Alien...
The incredibly scary music doesn't even feature in the film, and most of the early part of the trailer was specially shot for it, with props unrelated to what the art department were turning out for the movie. There's an elliptical approach here that ticks none of the current boxes for a Hollywood trailer, except a couple that are pretty damn important for a horror film. It scares and intrigues.
