Star Wars robots film TV ad

Anthony Daniels reprises famous Star Wars role for UK ad campaign...

We can't say we're not disappointed. Having suffered the indignities of being sold as appliances by Jawas in Star Wars (1977), the fact that the franchise's most beloved comedy pairing are now taking the shilling to help sell more of their cybernetic siblings in a new ad being filmed in London for the Currys/PC World chains...it just goes to show how fame and fortune can turn even the most logic-based processors away from their core ethical programming.
Shame on you, C3P0 and R2-D2.
Rumours began earlier this week as something that looks suspiciously like the escape pod that the metal duo used to flee the captured Corinthian craft at the start of A New Hope turned up, mysteriously empty, in London. Now a press release reveals that Anthony Daniels is reprising his robotic role for the 'epic campaign'. Along with Kenny Baker, who played non-moving versions of R2-D2, Daniels is the only cast member to have graced all six Star Wars films. Baker is not mentioned as reprising his role as the beeping runt, presumably because R2 seems to have his third leg extended in the ads (which configuration was always a genuinely robotic prop-robot).
The TV spots will be backed up by poster campaigns shot by David Bailey. Dixons chain UK Marketing Director Niall O’Keefe says: "we wanted to create a partnership that would truly represent the size and scale of the shopping experience a Megastore delivers. Who better than C-3PO and R2-D2, arguably two of the most well-known characters in film history, to showcase exactly how vast our Megastores really are! Working with Anthony Daniels was an incredible experience, and we hope that we have really captured the essence of C-3PO and R2-D2 to create a campaign that will appeal to the legions of fans who have supported Star Wars over the years."
The advert campaign is also going to be beamed into space, possibly giving potential alien visitors a false idea of the current state-of-the-art of our kitchen appliances...
