Harry Potter films get 3D Blu-ray revamp
| NEWS - MOVIE NEWS |
Because this is all far too flat...

Warner Bros is banking (take that literally) like Hollywood that 'flat' films will be regarded in the future as we now regard flick-book cartoons, and that we'll all ultimately shell out on hi-def 3D screens. Consequently it's planning a bonanza 3D Blu-ray re-vamp of two of the Harry Potter cycle of films. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be converted from their 2D originals into glorious Blu-ray 3D, much as this year's Clash Of The Titans was converted into 3D at the last minute - but a far better quality of conversion is promised than that much-criticised marketing tactic.
This may be a sop to those disappointed that November's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 won't be 3D after all due to time constraints. Presumably the earlier Potter films are being considered for the 3D treatment too, but one senses a double-dip tactic - when the series definitively concludes with Deathly Hallows Part 2, let the serial box-sets commence in all their varied formats...
