Like having the best-selling movie and Blu-ray disc of all time wasn't enough - November delivers some of Avatar you haven't seen yet.
Fox today released official details for global release of the impending Blu-Ray and DVD editions of the Avatar Extended Collection edition. Following a lucrative disc release in early summer, it seems we're to have another Avatar Christmas, even if James Cameron isn't ready to sequel up quite yet.
From November 16th (though dates may vary) North America and global markets get access to three versions of Cameron's tale of transworld love. In today's press release, the director of the world's most successful movie said: ""I told our team --- let's do the ultimate box set of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want. There's an extended length cut that's sixteen minutes longer, plus documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, artwork and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set."
Three versions include an option to watch the movie with 'objectionable language removed', but most interesting are the highly anticipated extra 16 minutes, including a new opening Earth scene (anyone who remembers Aliens' special edition re-release in the early 1990s will find these words familiar).
Relax, Brad - here's exactly what's in the box:
Disc One
- Original Theatrical Release
- Special Edition Re-Release
- Collector’s Extended Cut (including 16 more minutes and exclusive alternate opening)
- Optional Family Audio Track (All Objectionable Language Removed)
Disc Two
- “Capturing Avatar" – An in-depth feature-length documentary with James Cameron, Jon Landau and cast and crew
- Deleted Scenes – including over 45 minutes of never-before-seen deleted scenes
- Production Materials

- Open “Pandora’s Box” and go deeper into the filmmaking process
- Interactive Scene Deconstruction: Explore the various stages of production through 3 different viewing modes
- Production Shorts: 17 featurettes covering performance capture, scoring the film, 3D fusion camera, stunts and much more
