RIP Kevin McCarthy
| NEWS - MOVIE NEWS |
Why did no-one ever listen to him...?

He warned you in 1956. He warned you in 1979. And if you haven't got the message by now that 'They're coming', you deserve all you get from the Pod People.
Actor Kevin McCarthy has departed this Earth at the venerable age of 96. He was one of the longest-working actors in genre (or any other) TV and movies. McCarthy's greatest claim to fame was twice portraying Dr. Miles Bennell, initially in Don Siegel's seminal Invasion Of The Body Snatchers in 1956, and then again in a cameo for Philip Kaufman's worthy remake in 1979...
You can find out all about every cinematic version of 'Body Snatchers' at the link below, but suffice to say that McCarthy will remain a cinematic emblem both of paranoiac excess and a cautionary tale against assuming that 'they' have your best welfare at heart.
McCarthy died at Cape Cod hospital in Hyannis, Massachusetts, of natural causes. Before Body Snatchers (ahem) took over his life, he was best known for his role as Biff in the 1951 movie production of Arthur Miller's Death Of A Salesman, for which he received an Oscar nomination.
