Rose Byrne tardy to X-Men: First Class

Damages star to play boffin 'love-interest' of McAvoy's Prof. Xavier...

Matthew Vaughan's comic-adaptation/prequel X-Men: First Class seems reasonably likely to boast Damages star Rose Byrne when shooting begins in London at the end of August. Byrne is set to play Moira MacTaggert, a genetic scientist specialising in the random 'X' mutations that populated the X-Men world in the first place, and the 'love-interest' of the founder of the 'school for the gifted', Charles Xavier (with James McAvoy heading for the barbers).
The film, whose script is a tightly-guarded secret and is more likely to take its cue from the previous three X-Men movies than the official First Class comic-book, also stars Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Alive Eve.
Having abandoned the unloved outcasts for Superman Returns (2006), X-Men cinematic originator Bryan Singer is once again unavailable to helm, though the core of his script for First Class is said to have survived a number of subsequent writers including the contributions of Kick-Ass scribe Jane Goldman.
