No 3D for Batman 3?

Christopher Nolan favours IMAX instead of Hollywood's 3D-mania, it seems...

Rumours are circulating that Batman 3 won’t be produced in 3D. If this is true, it will be one of the first big movie franchises to buck the trend this year. Wally Pfister, the Director of Photography on recent Batman films has been reported as saying he and Christopher Nolan are both ‘devotees of film’ and that they have a ‘mutual disinterest’ in 3D. He even went as far as describing it as a ‘fad’ which could be over before the summer.
Warner Brothers might not agree, and so far neither Nolan nor Pfister have confirmed the rumours, but what adds fuel to the fire is that this wouldn’t be the first time they have chosen not to use 3D. Nolan and Pfister have shunned the technology in this summer's Inception too.
When questioned on it, Wally Pfister, Director of Photography on the new film said ‘What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting,’ which could mean absolutely anything.
In the interview Pfister also mentioned that Brad Bird advised him to ‘shoot the whole thing in IMAX!’ and that he and Nolan had already been talking about it. When asked about 3D scenes in The Dark Knight he hinted that Nolan might be ‘game for doing something interesting like that.’ Which means, that only time will tell.
