Lost Boys: What next for the cryptic islanders?

FEATURES - TV

Where will the boys of Lost go - as characters and actors - in the time to come?

Beyond Lost...?

With the end in sight, what next for the boys who’ve dominated TV viewing for six years?

Matthew FoxJack (Matthew Fox)

The Character: Looking very much like he’s the candidate to take over from Jacob, Jack turns from plucky surgeon to the ultimate healer, atoning man’s sins and generally directing human life all over the world (while allowing for free choice of course). The hours might be longer, but the pay’s terrible.

The Actor: After a few duds (Vantage Point, Speed Racer) Fox will be hoping comic book adaptation “Billy Smoke” improves his box office return. Other than that, it looks like he’s taking a well earned holiday.

Josh HollowaySawyer (Josh Holloway)

The Character: Surprisingly having cured himself of the short-sightedness he suffered in Season 1, Sawyer goes back to the force, gets fired when he fails his driving test re-sit on the number plate test and heads off again on his quest to find the conman who ruined his life – just in case that guy in Australia running the shrimp stand wasn’t “The One”.

The Actor: Treading a similar path to Mr Fox, Holloway has a couple of movie parts under his belt (and I’m sure the girls would like to know what else) but it looks like his modelling career may be worth a punt. Well, with those pecs!

Naveen AndrewsSayid (Naveen Andrews)

The Character: You can take the soldier out of a war, but not the war out of a solider they say, I think. Not having interrogated or tortured anyone for a while, Sayid re-enlists in the republican guard and goes on a Rambo-style mission to win back Iraq in his dead sweetheart’s memory. George Bush plays the angry town sheriff.

The Actor: The Buddha of Suburbia has had a few stints in Law & Order and new film This Side of the Looking Glass with Brendan Fraser certainly looks interesting.

Michael EmersonBen (Michael Emerson)

The Character: Having gone from top dog to dog eared, Ben seeks revenge on Dharma in his usual creepy fashion with some cold-blooded boardroom kills. Either that or he goes back to his geeky teacher day job. I know which I’d choose.

The Actor: Emerson has been popping up in various creepy TV roles for years, and new film Goldstar Ohio, based on the stage play, might give him a chance to show his softer side.

Henry Ian CusackDesmond (Henry Ian Cusick)

The Character: Obviously harbouring a dark secret involving a brutal sibling sacrifice, Desmond straps on his hiking boots and sets off into more wilderness in the continuing search for his “Brother”.

The Actor: Having been a staple of TV in shows such as 24, Waking the Dead and Midsomer Murders(!!) Cusick’s fluency in Spanish might see him popping up in the odd horror film. His latest, Dead Like Me shouldn’t hurt then.

Jorge GarciaHurley (Jorge Garcia)

The Character: After having loved, lost and er…eaten on the Island, Hurley’s abundance of funds should have matured nicely during his time away. Expect more Mr Clucks Chicken outlets in Singapore and Beijing to be opening soon.

The Actor: With “Deck the Halls” his most famous film credit, Garcia’s not exactly setting Hollywood alight just yet. Of course, when the inevitable Harry Potter remakes come along in 10 years time, he’ll be prime-placed to take on Robbie Coltrane’s Hagrid.

Terry O'QuinnLocke (Terry O’Quinn)

The Character: Well as the Devil, and with remakes a popular Hollywood staple, where can’t he go? Devil’s Advocate, House of the Devil and Bedazzled all beckon, although he might prefer bringing Hell on earth, or in other words, Wrexham.

The Actor: Having been in pretty much every TV show since the beginning of time (West Wing, Alias, X-Files) O’Quinn will no doubt be keen to remain as a headline star. Let’s see what the future holds.
