Robert Pattinson and the Kurt Cobain casting issue

Does Hollywood's hottest leading man have the right energy to play the late rock legend...?
Coming as a consolation to many, last week's rumours that Robert Pattinson is to play the part of Kurt Cobain in a forthcoming biopic have proved to be unsubstantiated.
The Sun previously reported that Twilight star Pattinson had secured his “ideal” role in portraying the front man of 90s grunge rock band Nirvana. Allegedly, Cobain’s widow Courtney Love had been in regular contact with Pattinson for a while and was keen to have him on the project. However, the Hole singer has recently dismissed these claims as “stupid,” telling The Canadian Press: "Who would cast him? That's just wrong, no offence."
This comment apparently comes with no disdain towards Pattinson. Love is a fan of the Twilight films, saying “I get it, it resonates with the teenaged girl in me, I understand epic love of that nature; I write about it all the time."
“But isn't that silly?"
Apparently so. It's not that I feel that casting Hollywood's sparkling vampire in the role of the singer who committed suicide in 1994 is insensitive as such. I am just not confident of Pattinson's ability to portray competently the musician who was the reluctant spokesperson for Generation X.
So who could do it? Heated fans have stated slightly unreasonably that even X-Factor's 'Jedward' would make a better Cobain. (With one of their latest tweets reading “It's so weird this morning Edward broke a bowel at breakfast and then the Cocopops went everywhere!” I am unsure that they are able to fulfil the role, even between the two of them. Nevertheless.) Silverchair singer Daniel Johns seems a more appropriate choice, with his superior guitar skills and throaty vocals that were often compared to Cobain's in the late 90s. Owen Wilson or Joe Anderson are also easily envisaged in the role. Love, who wants both casting and script approval for the biopic, has The Notebook's Ryan Gosling in mind; although, as she stated in interview, she has no intention of watching the film because it would be too difficult to sit through.
The Pattinson rumours came about almost sixteen years to the day after Cobain's body was found in the Seattle home he shared with Love.
