Chris Evans finds something else to fight for in the new comic>movie adaptation...

British actress Hayley Atwell has beaten back heavy competition to secure the role of Peggy Carter in the eagerly anticipated and much documented adaptation of Marvel’s Captain America.
Atwell has been cast opposite comic regular Chris Evans (not that one) as the love interest of this favoured superhero in The First Avenger: Captain America due for release in 2011.
The 28-year-old, who has come up through the silky, demure ranks of period drama in Mansfield Park (2007), Brideshead Revisited (2008) and The Duchess (2009), was rumoured as the new the frontrunner after former favourite and British compatriot, Emily Blunt turned the role down. All she then had to do was pip square-smiled pinhead Keira Knightley to the post via a series of rigorous screenings, say Empireonline.com.
With unlimited speculation over The Avengers series seeming limitless, it is reassuring to see some left-field names appointed with sci-fi deity Joss Whedon likely to take control of the franchise. Whilst the ever-reliable Chris Evans as Captain America, already cast in graphic novel The Losers (released 16th April), is likely to bring a refreshing, dis-Hollywood take alongside fresh-faced Atwell. Aussie Chris Hemsworth has been adorned as the Norse god in self-titled Thor, being moulded in the very capable hands of Kenneth Branagh.
The recipe is something that will surely delight comic fans, after witnessing the failings of The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk and Daredevil.
