Third Sex And The City movie, says Cattrall

NEWS - MOVIE NEWS

...but admits the NYC chic could wear thin soon on the franchise.

A third outing coming for the Sex And The City girls

With Sex And The City 2 coming out on May 28th, 53 year-old actress Kim Cattrall has hinted pretty strongly that a third movie in the SatC saga will follow.

The actress recently stated in an interview that "We'll call time when there are no stories left to tell, and that's really the writer Michael Patrick King's call." That said, the actress admitted the possibility of wearing out the characters' welcome, adding "The fact that we've had this second life is amazing. But I'd hate for people to think,'Oh my god, there's another one out there.'".

Darren Star's tale of four fancy-free New York socialites ran for six years between 1998-2004, divided viewers like a cheese-cutter and is still doing so now that the girls have moved to the big screen. The success of the initial Sex And The City movie in 2008 made the current sequel inevitable, and the studios' increasing faith in the power of a franchise seems to be making pre-release serial-sequel deals de rigeur in Hollywood.

Sex And The City 2 finds Samantha, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte holidaying in Abu Dhabi, and presumably missing one or two familiar NYC luxuries whilst appreciating the local talent, with Carrie distracted by a chance meeting with ex-boyfriend Aiden.

Sex n the city is cool, in a way, amongst the girls. But is it geek/cult? Really? I know there are girl geeks, and girl geek stuff, but I'm struggling to square this particular circle.

May not be Avatar, but it's too divisive to ignore.
